Simple Maintenance Tips You Should Follow to Make Your Floor Saws Last Longer

Floor saws make cutting and removing hard materials from the ground a piece of cake. Many home builders and flooring contractors take advantage of the prowess of this particular piece of equipment because it is easy and convenient to use. You can use this machine to cut a slab of concrete and other hard objects quickly and efficiently. But if you're frequently using this piece of equipment and other types of construction tool for that matter, it makes perfect sense to take care of them to ensure that they won't fail you when you need them the most.

Floor Saws
As the saying goes, "the devil is in the details." Like a pressure washer, saws and other types of equipment are made up of various moving parts. Therefore, you should never neglect every part of them, no matter how big or small they. Always remember that a well-maintained, less expensive tool is better and will last longer than an expensive tool that hasn't been properly taken care of.

According to experts, one of the most common problems with small to medium-sized construction equipment is electrical-related. It is because many contractors have the habit of pulling the cords of their equipment from two metres away because it is quicker and easier than taking a few steps and unplugging the device from the wall. However, this is a big no-no as it can twist and damage the electrical cable.

If you have floor saws, pressure washer, other types of equipment that need to be plugged into a power source, make sure you unplugged them properly once you're done using them. This is to prevent the power cable from being twisted and frayed. It is also advisable that you roll the cable around the equipment. Always remember that damaged power cords are safety and fire hazards so you shouldn't take them for granted.

Dust is a common cause of damaged parts. They can get into the equipment's moving parts when removing floor tiles, landscaping, cutting concrete, and doing other similar activities. Switches on equipment such as floor saws, vacuums, and edger, can become worn out and if they become filled with dust and dirt, they might stop functioning properly. They might even stop working altogether.

As such, after using the equipment pieces, make it a point to remove dust from them by blowing them off. And because it is important to keep the blades of your floor saws sharp, make sure you clean them after each job. It is also advisable that you check them daily, or as soon as you notice that they are not cutting properly to prevent the problem from becoming worse.
